Forging Pathways for Climate Action: Collaborating with Machakos County Government for a Sustainable Future

 

The Youth for Climate Action Machakos team recently had the privilege of participating in a round table consultative meeting with the Chief Officer, Environment and the Minister/ CEC Member for Water, Irrigation, Environment, and Climate Change of the County Government of Machakos. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss potential areas of partnership and collaboration to address the pressing issue of climate change within the county.

The meeting provided a platform for open and constructive dialogue, where both parties shared their respective goals, expertise, and resources related to environmental conservation and climate action. It was a significant opportunity for PKYF and the team to present the achievements and impact of the Youth for Climate Action Machakos campaign, as well as to showcase the enthusiasm and dedication of the youth in driving change.

During the meeting, fruitful discussions were held on various topics, including the implementation of sustainable projects, youth engagement in environmental initiatives, policy development, and resource allocation. Both parties expressed a mutual commitment to fostering a strong partnership that would create a lasting impact on the county’s environmental sustainability efforts.

The consultative meeting laid the foundation for a collaborative approach to addressing climate change in Machakos County.
